XYZ Machine Tools, the largest seller of CNC machine tools in the UK, will be exhibiting a range of machines from their portfolio at MACH 2026. The stand, 20-160 will be displaying machines that will help a whole range of manufacturers to increase production as well as profit.
Toolrooom products fitted with ProtoTRAK controls
The toolroom range of products help producers of one-off and small batch numbers to increase efficiency and accuracy of parts typically made on manual mills and lathes. Demonstrating the ProtoTRAK conversational control on turret and bed mills along with the flat bed lathe machines, XYZ aim to show how quickly using intuitive programming, parts with even complex profiles can be manufactured in a fraction of the time it would be produced manually.
With the ability to still revert to manual operation if required and operation of the control retaining a familiar feel for manual machinists, transitioning to the ProtoTRAK controlled machines is nearly seamless, but with the advantages of more functionality and more accurate part production.
Displayed on the the stand will be a KMX 2000 turret mill using the KMX 2 axis control along with the new KMX 2500 which brings 3 axis capability to a small bed mill. The best selling RMX 3500 with its 15” colour touch screen offering a host of functions for the modern workshop will allow XYZ to highlight the latest technology available on their larger bed mill range.
The ProTURN range of flatbed lathes, which come as standard with constant surface speed, is represented with the small RLX 1630 and the bestselling RLX 425 gap bed which incorporates an 80mm spindle bore with a 3-speed headstock. The RLX control fitted to these models will again be demonstrated to show how manual functions and CNC can be used to allow flexibility within the workshop.
On the stand and fitted with the same ProtoTRAK RMX 15” touch screen control, will be the “hybrid” TMC (Toolroom Machining Centres). This range, which is fitted with the same simple to program CNC but with the added benefit of a toolchanger, provides users with the opportunity to machine features on a part without manually changing the tools thereby increasing efficiency and reducing operator intervention. 2 models of TMC’s will be available for demonstration a 750 TMC and the larger 1000 TMC. Both models will have fitted the optional front mounted handwheels that will allow XYZ to show the true flexibility of these machines. This is in terms of both the manual capability, and to show the confidence building TRAKING function that is available on all ProtoTRAK controlled machines. This feature offers both smoother machine operation and the ability to run the CNC program by turning the handwheels that puts the operator in full control of the machine.
If you are short on space or need something just to carry out the 2nd operation machining on your parts, XYZ will be highlighting the RMX 2-OP that shows pre or 2nd operations don’t have to be carried out on the primary machines in your workshop. With its 8-tool cradle toolchanger and 10,000 rpm BT30 spindle it’s a machine that can even be moved around the workshop to ensure lean production and it is also fitted with the ProtoTRAK RMX control just like the TMC models.
Production machines supplied with Siemens 828D
For many years XYZ have fitted Siemens controls to their “production” machines. This range of vertical machining centres and turning centres have proven to be workhorses on many shopfloors around the country. There will be 4 models of machine fitted with Siemens 828D controls on the stand to highlight different machine constructions and capabilities on offer from XYZ.
Representing the milling range, the 500 LR will give visitors the chance to see the smallest VMC in the LR range of which there are 4 models on offer from XYZ. Built with the latest linear rail technology and with a BT40, 8000RPM spindle, this 500mm x 400mm machining envelope machine has proven to be a great starter machine for users investing in this type of equipment for the first time. Next to this machine on the stand will be an 800 HD. This machine built on hardened and ground boxways offers an opportunity for greater material removal due to its bigger spindle motor and, with a 24-station arm toolchanger fitted, creating efficiency can be from the pre-selection of tools during the machining cycle.
Production turning is brought to the fore with the CT52LR and the 65LTY-S products. The CT stands for Compact Turn and the CT52LR lives up to its name. Taking up only 1920mm x 1520mm floorspace but still offering a 150mm chuck with 52mm bar capacity, a 10-station turret as well as a tool setting arm it offers great value for money. The other end of the scale in terms of volume production is catered for with the 65LTY-S machine which is the newest lathe on offer from XYZ and incorporates motorised spindles on both the main and sub spindles. Providing 66mm bar capacity in the main spindle and 45mm hole in the sub, this machine provides all the requirements for lights out manufacture. The BMT65 12 station turret allows all positions to accept driven tools and can also handle multitool setups along with the C and Y axis add to the machine’s competency. With the Renishaw automatic tool setter, parts catcher and swarf conveyor all at the user’s disposal, larger production runs can be handled with ease.
New 400 UMC Universal Machining Centre
The first machine many visitors will see on entering the halls on the XYZ stand will be the newly launched 400 UMC. This 4+1 / 5 axis simultaneous machine offers workshops the chance to enter the world of multi-face machining with reduced set up costs or the ability to enhance the capability of the workshop with 5 axis functionality.
Supplied with a 400mm tilt / rotary table driven by Japanese roller cam drive technology providing high rotational speeds and offered with either 30, 60 or 120 tool options, this product opens the door to reduced part handling, increased accuracy of machined features and the addition of automation with its 2-door set up. With a motorised 12,000 rpm (15000 rpm optional) chilled BT40 spindle using face and taper contact, users will have the ability to use the latest tooling technology to reduce cycle times.
With customers having the option to decide if they need 5 axis capability from time of purchase or need to add this later, the Siemens Sinumerik One control fitted with a 22” touchscreen provides great functionality. With the capability to use both Shopmill conversational software for easy program generation on the shopfloor, or the ability to load programs from CADCAM if required, the control is both flexible and functional.
Proving XYZ are more than just a machine
There will be 2 extra features on the XYZ stand that may surprise visitors. To show the companies commitment to their customers, XYZ will have one of their fleet of fully stocked service vans on show. With the doors open, new and existing customers will be able to talk to XYZ about how we support users with annual services and breakdown cover.
Did you know XYZ have branched out into laser marking? They can now supply 3 sizes of laser marker as they understand the need for part traceability and identification. The mid-range I600 will be on show to highlight this new development for XYZ.
Small or large batch production, looking to increase productivity or reduce set up, visit XYZ on stand 20-160 to see how they can help to move your business forward and see why they are more than just a machine.
