Halblech, January 22, 2024 – The pioneering LM 2000 machine platform from Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik offers new dimensions in the production of stamped and formed parts from strip material using linear tool technology.
The highly standardized, modular linear machine is available in two variants – as LM 2000-KT with cam-controlled units in the forming area and as LM 2000-NC with servo-controlled units. The focus of the KT variant is on medium and high batch sizes with few component variants. The machine offers production speeds of up to 500 parts per minute. With cycle rates of up to 250 rpm, the NC variant is perfectly designed for small and medium batch sizes with a high number of variants. The LM machines offer a total of 2,000 mm machining length for cutting tools in the press module and a maximum of five linear tool modules or the new HLT 250 high-performance linear modules in the forming area.
Plug & Produce
Where classic mechanical stamping and forming machines are limited to the use of only individual tools, the LM 2000-KT and the LM 2000-NC are fully tool-compatible with standard linear tools – such as LEANTOOL Linear – or with parts from LEANTOOL Linear, or with the user’s linear tool standard. These linear tools are convincing due to their high proportion of standard parts of up to 70 percent, very short implementation times and significantly lower costs. In accordance with the “plug & produce” principle, they can be easily transferred to the LM machines. Standardized interfaces and zero-point clamping systems guarantee a particularly fast and 100 percent reproducible tool set-up.
Compact machine body
The LM 2000-KT and the LM 2000-NC are designed to offer the widest range of applications and the maximum in performance capability in stamping, forming, and coining, while using only the simplest and most essential basic machine configuration. The integral design of the compact machine body contains the infeed module, the press module, three forming modules (either cam-controlled, or servo-controlled) and two central mandrels. Additional process modules for welding, thread forming, screw joining can be integrated into production sequences. Meusburger standard cutting frames type SBH and SBP can be used in the press installation space. The compact machine body also integrates the electrical hardware for the machine, drive elements and VariControl VC 1 control.
High process reliability
The VC 1 serves fully as machine and process control on both machine variants. It guarantees a safe and intuitive operating routine and controls, regulates and monitors all machine and process functions. Integrated sensors in all machine and machining components provide the data for consistently high process reliability and the possibility of predictive maintenance. OPC UA interfaces form the basis for all requirements in the field of IoT, M2M and I4.0. For sustainable production, all machining units are connected to a circulating oil lubrication system. And thanks to the direct drives, users produce in a particularly energy-efficient manner.
