In 2022, we supplied a fully automated vision inspection machine to William Mitchell in Smethwick. Previously, they had been inspecting fuel injector parts manually using an attribute gauge and visual checks. This process required a total of nine operators working across three shifts. Occasionally, our customer received complaints from Ford due to issues with manual inspections, which were time-consuming and tedious for the operators. They had been inspecting these parts manually for the past seven years.

To address these challenges, we designed an automated process and machine that streamlined the entire operation, from loading parts to inspecting and allocating them into the desired quantity in KLT boxes. This new operation is fully automatic, requiring no operator intervention. The only responsibility left to the supervisor is to load the goods bin at the beginning of the process, after which they receive the good parts ready for dispatch. Since implementing this automation, they have not received any further complaints from Ford, leading to Ford UK awarding our customer for their improved performance.
